In order to map the trigger zone in all patients that present focal or generalized seizures and also to detect NCS, EEG is indicated but continuous EEG (cEEG) is not very widespread; timing, duration, and efficacy of this tool are still unknown. The long-term risk of seizures in survivors is increased. The typical stepwise approach of seizures management begins with benzodiazepines and follows with anticonvulsants up to anesthetic drugs such as propofol or thiopental, which are able to induce burst suppression and interrupt the pathological electrical circuits. However, whole-body tumor dosimetry is challenging in patients with a high tumor burden. We evaluate a simplified index-lesion-based single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) dosimetry method in correlation with clinical outcome.
30 mCRPC patients were included (median 71 years). The dosimetry was performed for the first cycle using quantitative Lu-SPECT. The response was evaluated using RECIST 1.1 and PERCIST criteria, as well as changes in PSMA-positive tumor volume (PSMA-TV) in post-therapy PSMA-PET and biochemical response according to PSA changes after two RLT cycles.
Mean tumor doses as well as index-lesion doses were significantly higher in PERCIST responders compared to non-responders (10.2 ± 12.0 Gy/GBq vs. 4.0 ± 2.9 Gy/GBq, = 0.03 and 13.7 ± 14.2 Gy/GBq vs. 5.9 ± 4.4 Gy/GBq, = 0.04, respectively). No significant differences in mean tumor and index lesion doses were observed between responders and non-responders according to RECIST 1.1, PSMA-TV, and biochemical response criteria.
Compared to mean tumor doses on a patient level, single index-lesion-based SPECT dosimetry correlates equally well with the response to PSMA-RLT according to PERCIST criteria and may represent a fast and feasible dosimetry approach for clinical routine.

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of minoxidil (MXD) solubilized in the microemulsions (MEs) on drug release by in vitro/ex vivo diffusion through the semi-permeable membrane Spectra/Por® (Spectrum Laboratory, Gardena, CA, USA) and porcine ear skin. Moreover, a residual amount of drug in the skin after ex vivo diffusion was evaluated. The reference MER, lecithin-containing MEL, and gelatin-containing MEG were characterized in terms of their size, polydispersity index, density, viscosity, electrical conductivity and surface tension. Based on the in vitro diffusion, it can be argued that MEL slowed down the drug release, while MER and MEG have no significant effect compared to the sample, in which propylene glycol (PG) was used as a solubilizer. Determination of the residual drug amount in the skin after 6 h of the ex vivo permeation was demonstrated as the most valuable method to evaluate the effectiveness of the ME's application. The results indicate that the most optimal MXD permeation enhancers in alginate gel were the natural surfactants containing MEs. Despite recent outbreaks of CEV in wild carp populations, the host range of North American species has not been well studied. To that end, we intensively sampled carp (n = 106) and co-habiting native fish species (n = 5 species; n = 156 total fish) from a CEV-suspect mass-mortality event of carp in a small Minnesota lake (Lake Swartout). Additionally, fecal and regurgitant samples (n = 73 each) from double-crested cormorants (Phalacrocorax auritus, DCCO) were sampled to test the potential of DCCO to act as a vector for virus transmission. CEV was confirmed to be widespread in the Lake Swartout carp population during the outbreak with high viral loads and histological confirmation, suggesting that CEV was the cause of the mortality event. There were no detections of CEV in any native fish species; however, DCCO regurgitant and fecal samples were positive for CEV DNA.
